My Best Lllama yet.....

When the Spanish arrived in the New World they eventually treked across the high altiplano of the Andes. On this journey they came across giant sheep with funny looking heads. The animals also had a tendancy to spit at people they didn't like (probably the Spanish). So, the Spanish, pointing at the animals asked the indigenous people, Como se llama? ( what's that called?) And from then on the name llama was given to these lovely creatures......

Hummingbirds and other delights

This little Hummingbird was lucky enough to have his photo taken in Monteverde. They have loads of them.....and an interesting fact is you only find them in Latin America. What is even more stimulating for the brain is the fact that there is a little one (not this one) and the adult male little one weighs only 2 grams....that´s fairly light i´d say.

The other interesting fact thati learnt today and i feel necessary to publish is that, the female Praying Mantis like we know eats the male after they have copulated, but what you may not have know is that often she will have eaten his head off before they have even finished. They also don´t have eye lids and that´s why they do that funny thing with their legs...they have little hairs on them and they are cleaning their eyes....So there you go.....
